Meet The Miscellaneous Momma

How It All Got Started -

I'm the miscellaneous momma and I just wanted to tell you how this all got started... last night, my husband and I were talking.  I had just read to him a few paragraphs that I randomly starting writing in my head on the drive home and continued writing in the notes on my phone while standing in my laundry room, mid-load.  This is how I live my life these days... Random, Spur of the moment, Squeezing in what I can, when I can.  I've always wanted to write, especially books (I almost pursued journalism in college).  Anyway, I have a million ideas in my head (for all kinds of things, really) and I love to write, and suddenly as we were talking, it hit me: Start a blog.  So, I told him out of nowhere, "I think I'll start a blog." and so here I am, the next day, starting a blog.  if i don't do it now, it will just remain an idea in my head, floating around with all the rest.  I sat in my car when I first got home this afternoon and created my blog... like I said: Random, Spur of the moment, Squeezing in what I can when I can.  Can anyone else out there relate?

A Little about Me -

Other than my newfound life as a blogger, I wear many hats.  I am a wife and momma.  my husband and i have been married for 11 years, and we have 3 kiddos, ages 10, 9, and 4 and one furbaby named teddy.  he's a Goldendoodle that my sister hooked us up with.  i'm sure you'll meet all of them in the blogs to come.  I am currently a Culinary Arts teacher at a middle school in small town, central florida.  This is only my 2nd year in this position, but it's my 16th year teaching.  I also teach an elective called AVID, which is a huge passion of mine.  I'm sure you'll hear all about that as time progresses too.  Our family is very involved in our church, which has always been a big part of my life.  I grew up at church more than I was home, but I actually loved it that way.  I got baptized at the ripe old age of 7, and Jesus has saved me every day since then.  At church, I help a lot with Pre-K these days because my youngest is a MOMMA'S BOY and pretty much won't go to class without me.  My husband is a basketball coach.  It always makes me laugh when people ask me when basketball is getting started up because let's be honest: it never really stops.  Other than that, kids keep me BUSY, between church and gymnastics and meet season and cleaning up toys all day long and washing all the laundry in the whole world every week and football season and signing all the papers and trying to do all the things before they don't want to anymore.  I don't get a lot of spare time, but when I do...

I LOVE:
  • to cook and try new recipes
  • to craft especially with cheap materials, and I'm learning to Cricut
  • to READ!!! especially anything YA fiction or Historical Fiction if it's about the holocaust
  • to shop, especially when I find a good bargain!  A good deal always gives me the Warm Fuzzies.
  • to celebrate holidays and decorate for holidays, especially christmas and birthdays!
  • to spend time with my family, at the beach or a pumpkin patch or the drive-in or a theme park or on a roadtrip or at my mom's for sunday dinner; family time is my favorite.
I try to garden and am not so good at it.  But I'll keep trying.  My Nanny and Granny were queens of the Garden, and I wish I'd gleaned some knowledge from them, but I was too young to care back then. I also love a good cup of coffee in the morning and Tacos all day long and all things Pioneer Woman.  I am a night owl by nature and have yet to master mornings, even at 37-years-old. But I'll keep trying on that too.

Why the Name? -

I've lately come to accept the fact that i'm a different kind of person.  I am both lonely and Yet not alone.  I have many friends but yet no best friends.  It's always been like that.  I've never been the "Chosen One"... with boys or friends.  But it's okay.  It's who I am.  I have a million hobbies, but I don't have passions.  My house is a hodge-podge.  We just bought our first real sets of furniture a year or so ago.  I don't even have a favorite color; i like each one for different things and different days.  Random has always been a word I've loved, maybe because I'm more random than I realized.  The word Miscellaneous suits me.  I don't fit in any specific mold.  I belong with the Miscellaneous, in the drawer with the items that aren't super important but are also a little too important to trash. They might come in handy for something.  That's me.  I've never been the star of the show, but I usually have a role of some sort, even if it goes unnoticed.  On this blog, you'll see glimpses of the miscellaneous momma I've come to be okay being.  I have ideas, as I mentioned before, plans, but nothing that fits in a specific mold.  You'll find lots of things here, just like you would in that drawer labeled "Miscellaneous."  I hope you'll enjoy what you find.

  1. Thank you for the lesson. This is so true in every person's life. We get angry at the people we love more than anyone. We sometimes hold on to that anger, which hurts those relationships. I have always told my kids when they are angry with someone important to them this, you never know what tomorrow may bring. That person could die and leave this earth at any moment. Don't let them leave with you feeling angry at them.
